Executive Protection: Hard Skills Save Lives, But Soft Skills Get You Paid!

When you think of the world of private security and executive protection, do you automatically think of mean, tough guys wearing suits and kicking butt? As cool as that may sound, the executive protection field is more than that. Today’s guest on The Morning Formation Podcast is Byron Rodgers. Byron shares what real executive protection actually is and why developing your soft skills may be even more important than the hard skills.

KP’s guest, Byron Rodgers is a Marine Corp Combat Veteran who is now the CEO of Bravo Research Group. Bravo Research Group is a full-service private security company providing security solutions to their clients’ needs in many areas on the spectrum of manpower, training and technology.

In the interview, Byron shares how his lonely childhood, moving from place to place, helped to teach him about determination. He recalls solo, spear fishing in the Bahamas on a boat in the ocean at the age of eight and realizing that if he desired an outcome, that he would have to work hard to make it happen. Byron describes his various experiences with IED’s during his combat deployment. He explains the differences between basic security and private security, and the intricacies and complications involved in executive protection. Byron discusses the executive protection courses he offers and why his school is different than others. He describes what he expects from his course patrons and his employees at Bravo Research Group. Finally, he shares why he empowers everyone on his team to be decision-making generals.
