KP Phillips was born in Hawai'i and spent part of his childhood in the Midwest as an Army brat. His early experiences shaped his work ethic, determination, and commitment to service.
After high school, KP enlisted in the Army National Guard and eventually pursued a commission through his university's Army ROTC program. He earned a BA in Criminal Justice from Wright State University in 2003 before commissioning into the United States Army and joining the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks in Hawai'i.
From 2004–2005, KP served in Mosul, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a transportation platoon leader. He was awarded the Army Bronze Star Medal for his service.
During his military career, KP served as a platoon leader, executive officer, and battalion training officer before leaving active service as an Army Captain (O3) in 2007.
He later earned graduate degrees from Central Michigan University and Strayer University, including an MBA in Project Management.
Today, KP continues his commitment to service through The Morning Formation, his work within the military and veteran community, and his involvement with organizations that support those communities. He also serves as a team partner with ACT NOW Education, helping connect service members, veterans, and military families with resources and opportunities that can support their personal and professional goals.
KP believes: A life of service is a life worth living.
