Army Veteran Sumeya Gibril’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and leadership. Having overcome the trauma of childhood abuse and domestic violence before immigrating to America, Sumeya went on to serve in the military—only to encounter injustice once more as she saw survivors of military sexual assault blamed, while perpetrators walked free. Unwilling to accept the status quo, she launched the Rise Above, Be Relentless Foundation: a nonprofit devoted to helping military sexual trauma survivors heal, access mentorship, and reclaim their sense of purpose.

The Foundation’s mission is unwavering:
• Pairing active duty women with civilian legal experts for real advocacy
• Offering essential mental health support
• Providing financial aid to those escaping domestic violence

Sumeya’s approach is grounded in faith and fortitude: “Sustenance comes from the creator, not people,” and “Embrace the challenge”—empowering survivors to transform adversity into strength. Every application is carefully vetted, ensuring that support is genuine and impactful.

No matter your background—whether you’re a veteran, athlete, leader, or someone passionate about personal growth—you’re invited to be part of this movement. Here’s how you can help:
• Attend our Gala on August 20th at Tower Club, Tysons Corner

To all survivors: Your trauma does not define you. You are worthy, powerful, and capable of rising above. Channel your pain into purpose and reclaim your narrative.

Let’s unite to uplift, empower, and inspire. Together, we can create meaningful change in our communities and beyond.
